Oh boy Oh boy!!! If you don’t have one of these new sponge brayers, (page 180 Annual catalog, item #141714, $8.00), you NEED to get one ordered!! I’m just saying, WOW are they fun and easy to use!! If you were put off from using the old hard rubber brayer, please give this one a chance!!
They made me look like I knew what I was doing on the cards for class!! This was my first time playing with them, but, for sure, it will not be my last. They may even take over as my favorite tool, (right now it’s the aqua painter.).
Here’s the proof:
On the above card I sponged on a piece of our designer series papers. I did not run the colors together so that you would see the white beween the red and green. I thought it looked like it was being highlighted from behind. There’s a picture of the brayers. You get 2 handles and 4 sponges in each package. When you are done with them, just hold under running water and the sponge cleans up like a dream. Now, if you are using a darker color, it may stain the surface, but, once it’s clean you can go ahead and use it on any other color. I would suggest keeping the box it comes in to store them so that they stay rounded. Being a soft sponge it’s easy to squish.
Here’s some more proof: My little butterfly card was sponged with peekaboo peach and flirty flamingo. Soft beautiful colors that go together so well, thank you Stampin’ Up!. We cut the hello and the butterfly out of the black layer before putting it all together. I also used the cutout of the butterfly as a stencil in the inside of the card. The top layer is our Irresistibly Floral Speciality Designer Series Paper. It’s preembossed and comes with 12 sheets, 2 each of 6 designs. You can check it out on page 172 of the Annual Catalog. It’s a perfect companion product for the brayers!
One more card then I’ll save the next two for tomorrow’s blog:
For the brayered layer on this card I used our Fancy Frost Speciality Designer Paper, it’s in the Holiday catalog on page 37. It is white-on-white textured designs that show up better when you apply ink. Nothing easier than using our new Sponge Brayers!!!! (Are you getting tired of me pushing this fabulous tool?)
Ok, that’s enough for tonight. I’ll be back tomorrow with the final two cards!
