One of my most favorite things to do is to sit at my desk and design cards for my classes. I prefer not to look at Pinterest unless I am pulling up sketches that are in black and white. That way I don’t get particular colors in my head or particular stamp sets. I just a layout at times to get me started. Often the card turns out to look completely different from the sketch, but, it gets me started in a direction!
Well, I am also blessed to be surounded by a very talented downline! We had our shoe box swap this past Saturday with our downline. I received so many beautiful cards! I have them up on my boards for everyone to enjoy.
This particular card I decided I would like to “case”.It was the card that Joan W. brought to share with us at the swap. “Caseing” means I am going to use her card design, but, make it my own. Here is Joan’s card:The card base is sahara sand with the colors pulled from the designer paper, (from the 12 x 12 It’s My Party paper stack), melon mambo, crushed curry and mint macroon. Joan used the Balloon Celebration stamp set which is on page 12 of the Ocassions catalog. Beautiful, right?
Because I choose to use the same designer paper, I did go with the same accent colors as above. I made my card base tip top taupe and changed out the bakers twine for linen thread:
I placed my washi tape on a piece of white card stock and ran it lengthwise instead of horizonal. The stamp set I used is one of our newest SAB offerings, Party Pants. I choose to add the little verse on cardstock and bump it up with dimensionals. I added a little star embellishment on the crushed curry star just for fun. So, the same but different!
So, take a look and find a card you really like and make it your own!
