The stamp set that I am focusing on is Your Presents, which is on page 32 of the Holiday catalog. We received this set while at Convention this past July. To tell you the truth, I have not played with it until this past weekend.
Sometimes a set won’t jump out at you right away. We need to stop and play with it so see how versatile it can be! This is one of those sets. I decided to go with the easiest first, a Christmas card. (Pretty obvious since this is a Christmas set, right?)
I went with traditional colors, real red and garden green. The plaid gift is made by stamping the diagonal stripes then turning the stamp 90 degrees and stamping over the first inking. Wala! A plaid present and a new way to use the diagonal block!
The background is embossed with a new folder, called Softly Falling Textured Impressions, it’s on page 24 of the Holiday catalog.
I also used the 1/8″ striped ribbon that’s shown on the same page as the stamp set, page 32. This is beautiful ribbon and you get 5 yards of each. It’s packaged together for $8.00.
Next I decided to design a birthday card, again, there are presents in the set, you get presents for your birthday……not a real stretch, right? But here goes:
The two wisteria wonder gifts are bumped up with dimensionals. This would be a fast easy card to reproduce. I really like the so saffron circles in the background!
The third card was more out of the box. I designed one which was then picked for our Camp Stamp in Oga on October 10th. So, I designed another one. Well, just before I came down to cut the cardstock, I received a phone call from tonight’s Hostess. She requested a Halloween card. So, back to the drawing board!
Here is what I came up with:
The stamp I had left to use was a square block. I made my own designer paper by using tangelo twist, delightful dijon and tip top taupe. By randomly stamping the square here and there and covering the top 2/3rds of the white cardstock. The bottom portion is embossed with our boho chic embossing folder.
I really threw my arsenal of Halloween stamps at this one. I usually try and use only one or two sets on each card, but what good is having an arsenal of cool stamps and not using them? I ended up using the following three stamp sets: Among the Branches, Happy Scenes and You Little Furball.
Notice the top corners? That was made using one of our newest punches, the Curvy Corner Trio Punch. You can see it on page 18 of the Holiday catalog. This versatile punch cuts 3 different shapes, 2 corners and a ribbon slide. (Yes, that line was taken directly out of the catalog! They are professional writers, so I thought I’d go with it!) Hooray!! I have missed our little slot punch and now this new ribbon slide takes it’s place.
Well, I’m hoping my Hostess club members will enjoy making these cards this month. If you are interested in a Hostess Club, just send me a note! We meet once a month and they agree to purchase a set amount of product each time. We rotate who is going to be the Hostess to receive the hostess rewards. A party must total $150 to get rewards. Think about getting a group together! I supply the project at no charge for club members. It’s a nice time to kick back and enjoy the company of fellow stampers and meet new friends!
