Did you try out the bleaching technique?

Well, if you didn’t have a chance to yesterday, make sure you try it out soon!  We had a lot of fun yesterday in class!  You never know what color our cardstock will turn to.

One other bonus is that my workshop smells like clean laundry!  If you don’t mind the smell of bleach.  I seem to remember things by smell, does that sound weird?  I have wonderful memories of being at one of my cousin’s homes in Louisiana and their laundry room was up stairs and always smelled like bleach.  We had such great times there so I connect the smell with those memories.

Here’s the unveiling of the crumb cake card using the stamp Sweetbriar Rose:

August 11 2015 sweetbriar rose on crumb cakeI didn’t complete designing the card until I saw what color would be produced after painting in the flowers with bleach.  After seeing I paired up the crumb cake with old olive and so saffron.

August 11 2015 close up of sweetbriar rose bleachingWe embossed the image in gold so I added a little gold bow to set that off.  I painted my leaves with an aqua painter with old olive ink.  In class they used a blender pen.  The leaves are quite small and a blending pen gave them more control.

Now, who would have guessed that crumb cake would turn into this beautiful soft yellow?!
