Sweet Sorbet – doesn’t that sound like something you would get in a pretty little dish that would cool you down in the summertime? (If so, I would like a little larger bowl!) In this case it’s the designer paper in our Sale a Bration or SAB booklet.
When Sarah was here and we were designing/picking cards for Camp Stamp in Oga she left a few choice pieces of cardstock behind. Those of you who know me know that I like to save any little precious scrap of paper or reuse any rejected pieces of paper! I’m not quite as bad as I used to be because of the volume of paper I sometimes deal with, however this particular piece of scrap was made using the hexagon hive framelit. There was no way this little baby was going to hit the throw away pile!
She had stamped a piece of crumb cake cardstock with the hardwood stamp from the Occasions catalog and cut it out with the hexagon hive framelit die. It didn’t work for the look we were going for and it was left on my table to be discarded. I combined this beautiful offering with a piece of sweet sorbet designer paper and this is what I came up with:
Here is a soft little card to just say hello to someone who needs a hug and a smile! I liked the idea of the soft background pattern showing through the wood cutouts. This SAB designer paper is soooo much prettier in person than in the handout. It coordinates with the newest soft incolors. If you don’t have any of this in your stamping arsenal you best hit that red button, order $50 in any product of your choice and you can get sweet sorbet designer paper, item #133521 for FREE!
The past few days have been busy busy busy. Even though I was not able to post, I was creating things to show you. We celebrated two of our grandchildren’s birthdays on Saturday morning. Of course Grandma had to create two special cards for them.
Micah is turning 4 and actually his birthday is today. I used the Monstermaniacs stamp set, item #134972 on both Micah and Halina’s cards. Here is Micah’s:
The monster had to be holding 4 balloons and I wanted them sort of floating above the picture. (The balloons are from the stamp set Sketched Birthday from our Annual catalog, item #130426.) I stamped the cute little monster and the balloons in stazon ink. Then I took my circle framelit and positioned it around the image. Using a pencil I softly drew around the outside of the framelit. That showed me where to cut out around the balloons. When cutting out the circle I simply pulled the balloons over the top of the framelit so they would not be cut off when I ran the whole piece through the Big Shot.
I used the postage stamp punch for the squares around the image. The designer paper is from the Kaleidoscope series of paper in the Occasions catalog. That paper is where I pulled all the colors I used from. The base of the card is whisper white with a layer of basic gray that was textured using the embossing folder from the SAB offerings. The squares are adhered to a piece of smoky slate. The circle around our little monster is summer starfruit.
Of course I used my trusty aqua painter to color in my images. I used a little smoky slate to put a soft shadow around the images just to make them pop off the paper.
Tomorrow I will share Miss Halina’s card with you.
