Best of series….March: Best of Flowers
I received my Best of Flowers stamp set last Friday. To my surprise, (I guess maybe I should have known this, but, I didn’t) the flower images that are from our retired sets look exactly the same except smaller. I started laughing when I was talking to my upline, Miss Sarah S, when I first saw this set. The first thing that popped into my head was the movie Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!
During my last Hostess Club a lot of the ladies were saying that they still had the flower sets that contained the flowers highlighted in this months Best of set. Yes, you may still have the original flowers, but, these are cute mini versions of those stamps! I am hoping to play with this set this afternoon, if I do I will post some more pictures. I’m really excited to play with these smaller versions as elements to my card fronts.
Here’s a picture of this months Best of Flowers:
Hey! Did anyone miss me? I was so crazy busy last week that I did not get time to post. Sorry about that!!! I had classes and clubs scheduled everyday but one last week. This week I have two days without a class, so I will try and do better!
I keep a box here that has set up’s for cards that we have done in my past classes. I call this my challenge box. My stampers are encouraged to take a set up from the box home and create their own card using the elements from the envelope. Judy K. has stated that she just loves the challenge of creating her own card without knowing what the original card was! Here is one of the challenge cards she brought back:
Tonight we have a downline meeting at Sarah’s workshop. I signed up to bring along a make and take card. That means that I design a card that everyone coming to the meeting gets to make. I decided that I would design a card around our new Photopolymer stamp set. I pared up our newest set with one of my favorite sets, Secret Garden. I love not having to cut out flowers and leaves! I can stamp them and just quickly run them through the Big Shot with their matching framelits. Here is that card:
The banner across the top of this card is made using our newest stamp set. This was the first time that I have used this type of stamp. They are very small and very sticky! I thought that is was fun to be able to bend the banner flags to get that nice curve. I then placed the letters on the opposite side of the block to match up with the banner. This way I can ink up the flag banner with StazOn black ink and stamp the image. Then I just turned the block around, inked up the letters with real red, lined up the letters with the flag banner and stamped. I was impressed with how sharp the images were! I should not have been surprised, Stampin’ UP! does such a great job in perfecting products before we get them! I believe that they have done it again!
If you are interested in purchasing this new set just hit the red button and start shopping! The item code is 132956 and it costs only $13.95 for 57 pieces! SU had assured us that they have age tested this product so that it won’t yellow or cloud up over time. While small, these letters are the perfect size for our card fronts! I am considering purchasing an extra set or two for stamping out longer phrases. That way I can lay them out on an acrylic block and stamp the whole phrase at once.
