Some camp highlights:
Camp was a BLAST! (I don’t think I have gone when it wasn’t a BLAST!) We started out on Friday at 2:00. I moved just about my whole stamping room into the Wilderness Lodge in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. It’s a great hotel at an easy to get to location right off the freeway. Believe me, if it was difficult to find, I would never make it there. (I have no sense of direction! Which is no surprise to anyone that has gone anywhere with me!)
Back to camp: Our Campers started to arrive and the fun begins. I had set up an embossing station, a big shot station, a punch station and a spritzing station. I had 3 large Stampin’ UP! boxes filled with the latest and most favorite stamps from my collection. Some of the ladies had projects in mind and some were interested in making some of the sample cards we had on hand.
I have to talk about the food, right? We ordered off the menu so that everyone could get what ever they were hankering for. Sarah and I were going to split a chef salad and they accidentally brought us 2 which could have fed a family of 8! The Campers enjoyed everything from Shepard’s pie to soup and salad. I enjoyed a cup of cheesy french soup also. Dinner did not go without entertainment. We had an onion toss competition going between Leann and myself. Not sure anyone won, but, I did pick up all the onion “rings”.
We stamped until about 2:00am. (I don’t mean I personally stamped, but, our Campers all stamped!) Headed to bed that early because we needed to be refreshed for our morning camping session! Wake up call was for 6:30am!
Here are some pictures from our morning session:
The blonde lady with the rich razzleberry top on is Miss Jan. She is one of Sarah’s first downline and we were thrilled to have her helping! This was her first time as a camp counselor and she stepped right up and did a fabulous job!
During the morning session the ladies received an adorable little spring bonnet which contained a package of our antique trinkets. They made five cards, won door prizes and purchased raffle tickets to win Stampin’ UP! products from stamp sets to a table top embossing “purse”.
Yes, I’m going to talk about food again! We finished up the morning session and the Campers that were staying for the day received one of our newest single stamps and a petite square punch. We had a wonderful pasta bar buffet finishing up with some very rich chocolate brownies.
The afternoon was filled with lots of fun and stamping. We offered a choice of 3 breakout classes. Miss Phyllis did the first one and made 3 beautiful cards.
I did the second one, we made up Valentine’s with the Simply Send Kit. I dressed up the original design with some flag banners, hearts, flowers and of course a few rhinestones and included the candy for each Valentine.
The last class was with Miss Jennifer and Miss Sarah. I was so excited to take this class that I took it twice! We made 3 projects, each using just one sheet of paper! We made a basket, a gift box and a mini brag book! I will finish up my book and get some pictures taken for you for tomorrow. The basket came with flavored popcorn, which I ate for breakfast this morning! I was up at 5:30 and it was too early to rattle pans around in the kitchen!
In between there we ate dinner. We had a buffet again from the Machine Shed, as usual I ate too much, but, man was it good! We had 5 different appetizers. My favorite was the beer cheese soup with the pretzel breadsticks. Camper’s, let me know what your favorite one was!
We stamped until about 3:00 and headed off to bed! On Sunday we kicked back and even I did a little (key word: Little) stamping. Ok, for those of you who are waiting for the personal card counts: Sarah 14 (plus all the cute name tags), Cheryl 2. Yes, folks, I stamped 2 whole cards! But, through out the week end I did help Miss Joyce with a rather large project. Does that count?
We got to meet a new friend from Chicago, Miss Madeline, who stayed the entire week end with us. She is in the process of having her home remodeled and found our little retreat the perfect way to get away from the stress at home! We look forward to stamping with her at our next retreat in April.
That’s all for the camp report. I will be posting some pictures of a card that Sarah made and I changed up a bit to make it mine later today.
